I GOT THAT BOOM BOOM COW

Went down to Smith Point Beach today around noon for a look see
Saw that the ocean was nice and calm
Made a few calls but only Capt. Adrian wanted to go
So we Pushed off 3:30 pm
At 1st we had small Blues Fish action in the back of the inlet
But after a few cocktail size blues (perfect Shark bait)
we headed out side for some big SLAMMER BLUES

After say 1 dozen or so we decided to take a ride west to see
If we could find the pods of Bunker
What we found 1st was a few Bottle Nose Dolphins
right off the Smith Point Beach in 20' of water

Well after that we saw why the Dolphins were there
Mega Adult Bunker being attacked by Bass + Blues
Capt. Adrian was quick to snag a bunker and in seconds it was
Inhaled by this 35 lbs FAT COW BASS

Not long after we landed this 24 lbs for Pablo

Yellow Fin Tuna

John on a Yellow Fin Tuna
Got invited to Join Chris Nappi, Ted, Leroy and John Z for my 1st
Deep Offshore Tuna adventure
John owns a 45' Cabo

In this boat we were cursing at 30 knots in the ocean like we were in the bay

we left the dock at 4 am and by 6:30 we had our lines in.

When we arrived we were greeted by a pod of Dolphins
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOCM3_zJBsc

At 1st we were catching Skip Jacks small Tuna not good for eating

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxEVf076WAU

We were approximately 70 miles offshore 300-340' deep  NE near a spot called the Tails
68 degree temperature we were searching for a warm water Eddie.
The Yellow Fin's loved the Ballyhoo's and Green spreader bars

Once we found the temperature break 73-74 degrees it the
Yellow Fin's started to hit the deck

One after another over and over and over many Multiple knock downs with a few yellows into the 20 lbs range.

Nothing big but the action was non stop!!!

Then Chris says to John let me take the wheel and go reel in some fish.

So Chris makes a pass near a Lobster pot we hook a Mahi but he spits the hook.

Makes another turn and all 9 RODS GO OFF!!!!

Snap,Snap,Snap ZZZZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZz ZZZZZZZZZZZZ get the picture all hell broke loose.

I'm yelling and screaming setting the three rods on the starboard side and Chris is just laughing at us.

I yell back a you-F@#$ put the boat In auto pilot and get back here.

I only wish I had that on Video funny stuff.

The guys were excellent Ted was great he really knew how to rig a Bally-hoo and the yellows loved it.

Also Leroy did a good job on the reels.

John your boat is awesome I can't get over the power and the way it cut threw the water.

I would Love to head back out with you anytime you have room.

I only wish I had more time to take more Videos and Pictures.

I was way to Busy getting yelled at. Put that Camera down and get over here, lol!!!

Total for the day was 13 Yellow with 6 keepers

30 Plus Skippies kept 5 for Shark Bait

The canyons have been overrun with peanut yellow fin tuna like this pup showed off by Paul Peluso of Manorville.

DOLPHINS, WHALES AND SHARKS OH MY!!!

Saturday 4 am Pablo, Chris and Mike leave Moriches
and head SE 150 degrees 30 miles out to 180' of water
In search of Mr. Mako or Thresher Shark
Just past the 20 mile mark Pablo noticed some birds working
and some Tuna chasing bait
It wasn't long before we had a Tuna take the spread
Here's Mike on with the Tuna

I slowed the boat to quickly and he got off
Man I'll never do that again so on we went
when we arrived at out destination we had Dolphins
swimming all around the boat
check out these 2 videos

We also had some Whales just out of Picture range but we
could see and hear their blow spouts
It was so cool  they blow like 20 feet high
So we begin our chum slick and in 20 minutes
we had a fast run off
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
It was long and fast but it just stopped.
After inspection of bait it was either a Tuna or Thresher
because it had almost no bite marks on it???
1st Shark to hit was a Dusky Shark
also known as a Brown Shark
It was less than 100 lbs and since it's illegal to catch
we cut her loose and set up for our next taker
Here's the video of the Brown Shark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo4UoybQWT4
and the release

Next up was Chris Nappi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXFkEhiQe6k
and here's the results

Then it was Mikes turn again

We also set out a live Blue fish we also caught on our way out
Here's Chris showing off this years new Fisherman's Hand bag
Just please watch your fingers

After that it was quiet for a while but Pablo did land 1 more Shark
it was the biggest of the day, but again it was a blue Shark

After that we had one more Fast and Fury-ist run off
But when Chris set the hook no one was home
So we total for the day was 1 Brown, 3 Blues, 2 Mysterious Run off
and 1 missed Tuna.
Not bad but my quest continues...
Will Pablo get his Mako???
Stay tuned for he's heading out real soon...
Who else wants to go???

Who else wants to go???

Had Peter Park, Jeff , Mike Kroessig and his dad Jeff.
Mike is from Florida and wanted to catch a Shark
He is a great artist. Fish and Marine life are his obsession.
Mike creates the BEST FISH MOUNTS
I'd ever seen
He made me a 36" Striped Bass Mount
that is just AWESOME
If you want the best you can get at affordable prices just click
Check out this Wahoo Mike just made

So we head out for what's to be my 1st Shark Trip of 2009
I go right to my spot 10 miles out.
Water temp 62 no signs of life, I keep going to my next spot
20 miles out till I get a temp break from 62 to 66 degrees.
Now were in 155' of water second set of fingers SE out of Moriches
I set up and we begin drifting 8 am.
2 hours later not a touch and we burn through our 1st can of chum
I but a new can in and we have a good drift of 1 to 1.5 knots
All most perfect so Sharking
About 10:45 am I could see a little doubt, board ness
as well as what am I doing here in the air (lol)
I say If we don't get a bite in the next 15 minutes lets go deeper
ZZZZZZZZ!!!
A small run off then more ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
I grab the rod and check it he's still there...
a little more ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
I set the hook!!!
Mike all set and I hand him the rod.
It didn't take long for that Penn 50SW International to
bring that Shark in

It was less that 100 lbs but it was Mikes
1st ever Shark and he was happy

Click to Play Video

Just as we got finished the second Rod goes off and now it's Jeff's
Turn and he gets all most the same size Shark
We'll after that it was really slow. we burned threw 2 more cans of
Bunker Chum and I said to the boys better start Chopping
the dozen blues I have or we'll be out of Chum in a few Minutes.
Mike played Slap Chop, ha, ha, with the blues and keep our slick going
we now had about a 5 mile drift. Peter was giving up and I
knew what was gonna happen. I even said watch the sharks will
hit just has the chum runs out and your ready to go home.
3 PM the power hours continues and just as Peter says lets go
ZZZZZZZZZ!!! Deep line
We'll we went from Sleeping to 100 mph...
I jump on the rod he's not there
Suddenly the short rod goes ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
I yell Peter take it and it runs
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
Peter sets the hook and the wind on leader snaps!!!
I say that's sharking maybe he's still around
Don't worry Peter you did everything right
a few moments later ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!
I set the hook Mike's up and he's fighting a much bigger Shark

Then the other rod goes off now I'm thinking
The Shark picked up a second bait and has 2 hooks in him.
Peter set it for I'm couching Mike.
Peter sets the hook and now I can see that its 2 different Sharks
and It's real crazy now for there crossing over each other and
ones on the port side and the other is on the starboard.
Mikes Shark comes to the boat I see it's a 125 to 150 blue
It makes a few runs and Mike gets to feel the power of a mad shark
I wire the Shark and he goes crazy next to the boat
snapping the hook???
Mean while Peters fighting the all most same exact shark as well
I wire that Shark and it goes crazy to actually smacking me with its tail
I say to Peter ok snip this it's really going crazy and off it goes
I wasn't able to take any pictures but Peter got the whole fight on
